An obstacle I'm trying to overcome is too much self-reliance. I'm back with another week of the #boostyourblog challenge and today I must confess that I rely too much on myself! You may be wondering, "Well, what's wrong with that, Selena?" However, I would have to respond by saying:
"No one can achieve everything by themselves. Rome wasn't built in a day and it sure wasn't built by the hands of one man. The President of the United States of America relied on the help of his supporters to campaign for him and ultimately come out and vote. Beside, every great invention had a cheering squad or some other person who believed enough to give the idea legs to grow and evolve. I know, well, if I know all of this why do I continue to have this obstacle in my way? I guess I'm just stubborn and too strong-willed but I have to work on changing this to make sure that the world gets the chance to see what I have to offer.
I believe that it's not until we recognize our flaws and are open to improve them, can we really overcome them.
If you don't know already, I'm not big on new year's resolutions. Instead, I like to set goals each month to challenge myself. I know that too much self-reliance will delay me finishing my larger-sized projects so I must step outside of my own abilities and seek out other result-driven professionals. I feel that by working on this challenging task, this year, I will have the opportunity to discover new ways of getting things accomplished.
Being the oldest child of three has made me very independent as you have been well-informed in my post from last week. However, I will not let this be an excuse to be naive and jaded by too much self-reliance. I will work on this obstacle and hope by the end of this year I will be closer to improving this part of myself for the better."
