Slutty Vegan Review | Eating Vegan With My Bestie in Atlanta, Georgia (ATL)

Recently, I visited my bestie in Atlanta, Georgia. We decided to try the Slutty Vegan restaurant together since she had never gone there before and I was vegan. Upon entering the establishment the music was playing and it was a casual atmosphere. The staff were working hard, dropping the french fries in the hot oil to prepare their Slutty Fries, preparing various sandwiches on the menu, and to-go orders. While waiting for our food order, we observed the dessert truck display and the merch on the walls.

There was limited seating at the Slutty Vegan Edgewood location so we decided to go to the park to eat and see what we thought about our food purchases. As we left, we noticed the line had become longer as more guests came in for the noon food rush.

In the video below we reviewed their Hooker Fries, The Fussy Hussy, and Project Chik sandwiches. All sandwiches included the seasoned Slutty Fries.

Trail Highlights

The Perimeter Trail is an accessible hike for most skill levels. The trailhead is conveniently located at the Idyllwild Nature Center, where you can start your journey with a visit to the center's informative exhibits and pick up a trail map. The hike begins with a gentle ascent, winding through towering pines and fragrant cedar trees, with the fresh mountain air invigorating your senses.

As you continue along the trail, you'll encounter several viewpoints that offer breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding San Jacinto Mountains. These spots are perfect for a quick rest or a photo opportunity, so be sure to bring your camera along! On clear days, you can even catch glimpses of the vast desert landscapes stretching out in the distance.

One of the trail's most enchanting features is the diversity of plant life that flourishes along the way. From manzanitas and yuccas to vibrant wildflowers, the trail showcases the unique blend of ecosystems that thrive in this mountainous region. Birdwatchers will also delight in the variety of avian species that call this area home, so keep your eyes peeled for woodpeckers, hawks, and maybe even a rare California condor.

A Peaceful Oasis

What sets the Idyllwild Perimeter Trail apart from other hikes is the sense of tranquility it offers. Despite being close to town, the trail feels remote and secluded, allowing you to truly connect with nature. The sound of rustling leaves, the chirping of birds, and the occasional rustle of a critter in the underbrush create a symphony of natural sounds that soothe the soul.

The trail is well-marked and maintained, making it a safe and enjoyable experience for hikers of all ages. Families with children will find it to be an excellent introduction to hiking, with plenty of opportunities for little ones to explore and learn about the natural world. Along the way, you'll find informative signs that provide insights into the area's geology, wildlife, and cultural history, adding an educational element to your adventure.

Plan Your Visit

If you're planning a trip to Idyllwild, the Perimeter Trail should be at the top of your itinerary. The trail is open year-round, but the best times to visit are in the spring and fall when the weather is mild, and the landscape is particularly vibrant. During the winter months, the trail can be covered in snow, adding a magical touch to the scenery, but be sure to check trail conditions before heading out.

The Idyllwild Nature Center, located at the trailhead, is open to the public and offers a wealth of information about the area's natural and cultural history. After your hike, take some time to explore the center's exhibits, or enjoy a picnic in the shaded picnic areas.

The Idyllwild Perimeter Trail is more than just a hike; it's an opportunity to reconnect with nature and experience the serene beauty of California's mountains. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a casual walker, this trail offers something for everyone. So lace up your hiking boots, grab your camera, and set out on an adventure that promises to leave you refreshed, inspired, and in awe of the natural world.

Whether you're a seasoned oenophile or just starting your journey into the world of wine, a visit to Sanford is sure to be a memorable experience.

A Rich History in Every Sip

Sanford Winery holds a special place in the history of California winemaking. Established in 1981 by Richard Sanford, the winery was one of the pioneers of Pinot Noir in the region. The combination of cool coastal breezes, clay-rich soils, and the unique microclimate of the Santa Rita Hills has made this area one of the most revered for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

When you visit Sanford, you're not just sampling wine; you're tasting a piece of California’s viticultural heritage. The winery's commitment to sustainable farming practices and minimal intervention winemaking results in wines that truly reflect the terroir—allowing you to experience the essence of the land in every glass.

The ATV Vineyard Tour: Adventure Meets Viticulture

One of the highlights of visiting Sanford Winery is the opportunity to explore the vineyard on an ATV tour. This isn’t your typical wine tasting experience; it’s an adventure that lets you get up close and personal with the vines. As you ride through the vineyard, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the lush grapevines, the surrounding hills, and the distant ocean. The tasting room itself is a charming space, combining rustic elegance with warm hospitality. Knowledgeable staff guide you through each pour, offering tasting notes and stories about the winery’s history and the unique characteristics of each wine.

Sanford is renowned for its Pinot Noir, but don’t miss out on their exceptional Chardonnays and other varietals. Each sip offers a balance of flavors and a complexity that speaks to the meticulous care taken in every step of the winemaking process.
