"I had to start out pretty early in the morning and visit one of my senior citizens. Instead of having our regular toast with tea together, I had an oatmeal packet with some raisins.
I do believe that action is a product of change and teaches me how to be grateful for where I am in life. On Day 1, I had my lentils with onion for lunch and then for dinner, lentils with onion and the rice pudding. I realized how lucky I was and so many others, who didn't have to worry about how much food we ate. However, every time I desire to make a difference, there is always tests, but in those tests I truly realize how much strength I possess, to follow through with the plan. Overall, my first day went well. I kept reminding myself that I was in a challenge and could only eat what I prepared on the $1.50 a day budget, especially when I had to go out to run errands. It was nice to hear that small little voice inside telling me, "You can do this. Your food is at home". :)"
