#Weekend Tidbit: Recharging Your Mind, Body, and Spirit by Selena Brown

Weekend Tidbit
by Selena Brown
Here's the audio of me speaking while driving to Fresno.

Sometimes what's familiar to us, causes us to be stifled in our advancement. We think that when we're sitting at our computers or we're focused on work, work, work, or busy doing something, that we're following our purpose. However, sometimes, we have to stop, drop, and let go of the things we normally do, the regularly scheduled programming so to speak, and do something different. That could mean going to an entirely different place, around different people, and learning new things from these people.

Moving away from what is familiar is a great way to grow spiritually, as well as mentally. It may help to unravel some inspiration, or an answer that we are seeking, and not only recharge us, but inspire us to keep moving forward with our dreams and ambitions. Personally, sometimes I even get far-fetched ideas and by getting away from my desk and letting go, I can think things through about my life, the events that are occurring in my life and what is really going on inside of me at the present time. A soul-searching can occur.

There is so much energy being used in a creative mind. If only you could live in my head one day, you would probably scream. I guess that's what makes us all so special and unique!

So, I decided to get away from my desk to recharge my mind, body, and spirit, last weekend. I thought to myself, GET OUT and LIVE! I think those of us who aspire to do SO much, don't really take the time to breathe, to live, and just be among the "flock." It was a very great day to get away and I took a road trip or day trip to Fresno, CA. I remembered that one of my seniors lived up there now (I'm a caregiver to seniors as well) in an assisted living place so I surprised him with a visit. He was SO happy to see me. I felt really blessed to receive such love and to be a burst of positive energy for him.

I then went to the zoo and took a lot of pictures. You can find some of those animal pics on my Instagram Here, since I decided to go to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo as well. I love the zoo and animals, period. However, I must say that this zoo is the best zoo I have been to in a long time. The people were very affectionate to the animals, very knowledgeable, and they had around the clock interactive activities for the guests who entered the zoo.

I got to feed two giraffe and learn a lot about stingrays and there was an awesome bird show. I decided to participate and had to fold a one dollar bill in halves and a beautiful bird from the parrot family, flew up and landed on my arm and took the dollar back to the zookeeper. She then had the bird fly back on my arm to put the dollar bill back into my hand. This was SO amazing to see. You could tell that these zookeepers spend a lot of time with these animals. The parrot flew about 10 feet away to get to my arm and back to the zookeeper. I was sitting up in the seating area close to a tree! I was not nervous at all. I was so happy that I volunteered!

So you see how important it is to get out and away from what you think is best. By leaving what we know, we are able to bring back higher spirits and a love that can only be experienced and discovered by getting out and about on your times off and during your weekends if you have weekends available.

I wanted to share this post by the weekend because I thought it would help some readers like me who are about work most of the time and little playtime. I hope I was able to help you. I took a much-needed timeout.
