I believe when you travel you have to spend some time among the natives to get a genuine, insider, perspective on a place. During my China travels in Beijing, my MBA cohort had the opportunity to visit the home of a Beijinger and also see how the natives keep themselves active and healthy to avoid being a burden to their children. They call these narrow lanes, alleyways, where they live and have recreational courtyards, a hutong.

#TravelVlog: Day One in Beijing China | Summer Palace and Fast Food

Welcome back to Selena Thinking Out Loud for my travel video blog of day one in Beijing, China. I had the opportunity to visit the country in July 2018 through the international study abroad component of my master's degree program at Mt. Saint Mary's University. Last week, I shared with you the various vegan meals I had on board Asiana Airlines. If you missed that video, you can click here to watch. 

In the following video below, you are going to get a glimpse into which fast food chains are popular in China. You will see how they meet the demand, provide good customer service, and anytime access to their food options. Then you will go with me to the Summer Palace in northwest Beijing to see the imperial garden that was in the Qing Dynasty! We will end our day one adventure with a walk to dinner and a quick observation of the stores to shop until you drop.
