I Dare You
by Selena Brown

I dare you, today, to stand up and be who it is you are called to be. You know, the thing that's been pulling at your conscience for the past week or how about years.

I dare you to start that business and hire those people, out of work, because you know that there is no "I" in team.

I dare you to write that novel, screenplay, or stage play because I know that it is the only way that you will be able to put to rest the voices that haunt your progression.

I dare you to take that first walk in your local park because I know that in order to get healthy you have to take the first step.

I dare you to open your mouth and sing the lyrics to the first track on your album because it's been laying there unheard by the best in the industry because of your self-undermining tendencies.

I dare you to say "hello" and smile at the one you are fond of because the process of communication is so necessary with love.

I dare you to stand up to who you are truly inside regardless of the friends you will lose or what people may think of you because there is ultimately only One who can judge.

  1. if you only new what's going on in my life you would understand how much this poem means to me !!! amazing ! Joseph Marcus tatone ! thanks for the poem !

  2. I can only imagine, Joseph. We all need to know that there is someone who understand. I deal with my own tests and know how hard it is, sometimes to stay in the fight.
